Description: The Department of Art and Art History at Loyola Marymount University is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Multimedia Arts. The successful candidate will have an innovative professional practice that critically engages with new media and emerging technologies. They will have familiarity with the histories and current practice of the broader field of multimedia arts/new media art informed by diverse perspectives, as well as inclusive social and ethical approaches that consider the impacts of emerging technologies on the individual, culture and society.Areas of teaching would span several of the following: 3D immersive environments, VR/XR, gaming (Unreal/Unity), real-time and generative imaging, data-driven art, interactivity, and 3D digital fabrication practice. The candidate will engage with the digital media foundations within the curriculum of the Studio Arts program as well as expand upon its vision with new curricular offerings connected to the candidate’s research in line with the University’s mission. The typical teaching assignment is four to five courses per year at the undergraduate level. This is based on a 2-2-2-3 rotating course load.
