Job Ttitle: Parent/School Liaison

Company: Beaumont Independent School District


Description: The main objective of the Parent Liaison is to increase parent and family involvement in schools. The Parent Liaison will establish effective communication between home and school and improve community outreach and training opportunities for parents and families.QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

  • 60 college credit hours; preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work positively with other parents and district personnel.
  • Ability to take initiative in coordinating and organizing activities and events.
  • Ability to accurately collect, organize and maintain data and information for reports.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as during parent and/or community events
  • Experience in the use technology and the use of Office Word/Excel/Publisher.
  • Must have own transportation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Contact parents and families through phone calls and meetings at school or district site in order to encourage participation in school and or district activities and events.

  • Provide information to parents concerning district policy and procedures such as registration, PTO, curriculum, assessment, uniform, discipline etc. as stipulated in our District policy.
  • Contact outside community agencies for the purpose of seeking resources and activities that will increase the participation of families in school and parent training opportunities.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned by the Principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands

  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Work with frequent interruptions

Physical Demands

  • Light lifting and carrying, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, repetitive hand motions; frequent bending and stooping
  • Prolonged use of computer

Environmental Demands

  • Normal office environment
  • May work prolonged or irregular hours
  • Exposure to childhood communicable diseases; good general health and stamina needed

**The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check.
