Apply today!DESCRIPTION OF WORKCaseworkers receive reports of suspected abuse and/or neglect of children within the county. They then meet with the child(ren) and caregivers and talk with anyone who can help determine if the child(ren) are safe. Caseworkers recommend seeing a doctor if children are injured.Caseworkers provide an effort to facilitate growth, behavioral and emotional improvements to those individuals and their families, and to maintain current and accurate documentation and records of clients and services.The most important thing is to be able to help a child, one who may not have the skills, knowledge or ability to help themselves.Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • On-call is mandatory.
  • Caseworkers may be required to work irregular hours depending on child/family availability.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
