  • Serve as a senior computer scientist in the conceptualization, development, implementation, and evaluation of systems, programs and procedures related to storage and reporting of scientific data.
  • Direct and participate in research, design, development, and testing of electronic data interchange, data management systems, computer system architecture and system software organization.
  • Conduct independent design and systems analysis in the computer science field to solve complex computer processing problems.
  • Participate in technical and professional workshops and symposia for the purpose of presenting project results and maintaining a current awareness of development and advances in the computer science field.

QualificationsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or bachelor’s degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: planning, designing, building and maintaining database infrastructure to fulfill the public health informatics mission such as computer networks, data communications, system security, and data confidentiality.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.EducationA copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
