As part of the AWS Infrastructure organization, Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) prepares for, plans, and builds the data centers that comprise the AWS cloud.We’re seeking an experienced Technical Infrastructure Program Manager in Herndon, VA, Arlington, VA, or Seattle, WA to oversee data center infrastructure expansion projects in support of U.S. Government customers. The Senior Technical Infrastructure Program Manager will lead cross-functional and technical teams from conceptual design feasibility through requirements, budget, completed design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Along the way, they will use judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery.At Amazon, along with technical strength, we expect our leaders to interact with internal and external customers, partners and suppliers to understand our joint business goals and priorities, and to execute rapidly, delivering high-quality functionality.The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 6+ years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives. Experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments is a plus. Candidates possessing a Bachelor’s degree in architecture/design, mechanical/electrical engineering, software/network engineering, data center infrastructure/operations, and/or construction management, who have transitioned to a program management discipline will have a distinct advantage.The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager will be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking. Other requirements include experience with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint. There is no typical day in the life of a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager. On one day, they may review demand forecasts for their assigned region to ensure that future builds are triggered on time. They may ensure that design reviews are effectively conducted. They may deep dive a material delivery issue that threatens their project schedule or resolve a technical challenge uncovered through execution. – 4+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
– Experience managing programs or projects across cross-functional teams
– 4+ years of working directly with engineering teams
– Bachelor’s degree in architecture, electrical/mechanical engineering, civil engineering/construction management, or equivalent professional experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
– Experience building and evaluating system-level technical designs
