Position SummaryThe IU Indianapolis University Library seeks an experienced Art & Design Librarian to join the Herron Art Library. This position is responsible for stewarding the Herron Art Library; serving the research and reference needs of the Herron School of Art faculty, students, and staff; collection development of the circulating Herron Art Library collection; and development of the Artists’ Books Collection. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of art librarianship and experience with artists’ books.The Art & Design Librarian reports to the Director of Distinctive Collections and works closely with colleagues within Herron Art Library and related unit Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives.This is a tenure-track position, with an anticipated start date of November 1, 2024. Located in downtown Indianapolis, a multicultural and affordable mid-sized city, the campus serves more than 25,000 students from 139 countries and 50 states.As the state’s premier urban research institution, IU Indianapolis is committed to being a welcoming campus community that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence.Responsibilities· Oversee the Herron Art Library services and collections, providing leadership, organization, and management of all library services associated with these areas including the service desk, classroom instruction, circulation of collections, wayfinding, technology assistance, and reference and research consultation.· Supervise, train, support, and evaluate Herron library staff, which includes one full-time staff member with digital collection responsibilities and one part-time staff member with circulation and reference responsibilities.· Develop artists’ books collection, one of IU Indianapolis’ distinctive collections, including purchasing new books.· Collect and analyze data about the art library collections and services to enable programmatic assessment.· Serve as the liaison to Herron School of Art and Design, collaborating with Herron faculty to provide instructional support; designing and implementing instructional strategies in collaboration with University Library’s Educational Services unit, which includes participating in Educational Services team meetings and activities.· Provide specialized reference and research assistance regarding art and design to faculty, students, and larger community.· Work collaboratively with the Herron Art Library staff and student workers on projects and in offering services including operating the service desk.· Serve as a member of the Digital Collections Advisory Group charged with evaluating potential digital collections projects, setting priorities, and establishing best practices for digital collection creation.· Represent the library in local, state, and national library venues as appropriate.Basic QualificationsRequired Qualifications

Salary and Rank The minimum salary is $59,000, with additional funding for professional development and travel. Benefits include 22 vacation days, 10 paid holidays, health/dental insurance options, and retirement contributions of 10% to a Fidelity Investments retirement
