Description: Job Title: TeacherJob Status: Permanent/Full TimeContact: Sister Danielle Truex, IHM, PrincipalE-Mail: srdanielle@stpetertheapostleschool.comJob DescriptionThe Art and Library Educator reports to the principal and is responsible for working collaboratively to incorporate creative, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate art projects for students to be viewed by parents, students, and community members while also curating books and other media for student consumption.Duties and Responsibilities
- The teacher is responsible for teaching PK – Grade 8 students once a week in each subject area.
- Write and implement engaging art and library lessons.
- Develop a curriculum that promotes grade-level standards in art and library.
- Monitor and document student participation and progress and provide students with grades as appropriate to their grade level.
- Provide supervision and maintain a safe physical environment.
- Utilize positive behavior management procedures to build a respectful learning community with each class.
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
- Observe and understand students’ behavior and psyche and report suspicions of neglect, abuse etc.
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, etc.
- Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of art/library equipment.
- Refer items for purchase or repair to the administration.
- Communicate with administration and faculty regularly to include and inform them of student progress in art/library.
- Read weekly memos and email and respond as needed to establish special schedules, maintain awareness of school initiatives, and prepare for weekly classes.
- Communicate with parents as needed.
- Duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned by the school principal.

- Create a culture and atmosphere of professionalism and respect among faculty/staff and administration by refraining from criticizing colleagues in front of students or parents or to other faculty members, speaking respectfully to one another, and being inclusive of all members of the community.
- Commit to a culture of academic excellence and integrity by utilizing instructional time fully and communicating high expectations with parents and students.
- Build an atmosphere where students are encouraged in their spiritual and human formation to adopt Catholic values and the human virtues of integrity, honesty, maturity, and responsibility that will enable them to be successful in the future.
- Observe appropriate boundaries between students/parents and teachers in communication, technology, and finances.
- Follow all safety and security protocols and procedures and report any health, safety, or security concerns to the administration immediately.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a teacher
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Proficient in use of Google for Education and Google Classroom
- Able to learn and maintain an online gradebook, virtual communications, and other instructional technology and student information management systems.
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
- Strong moral values and discipline
- Work independently and collaboratively without extensive oversight
- Be able to manage schedules, multi-task, and respond to unpredictable situations with creativity and confidence
- Communicate positively and effectively with all members of the school community
- Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject with a certificate in education
