Description: Location: Camp Grandview, Jasper GeorgiaPosition: Summer Camp Arts & Crafts SpecialistPosition Type: Overnight Residential – Temporary Full-TimePay Rate: 250.00 weekly.About this opportunity:Plans, coordinates, and leads arts and crafts activities and programs at camp; maintains all arts & crafts materials and supplies. Ensures quality and cleanliness of supplies & assigned area. Trains camp staff to lead, chaperone and monitor arts & crafts activities and ensures safety and a positive experience for campers.Key responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in a variety of arts and craft activities for the campers; organizes activities and promotes participation.
  • Monitors the arts and crafts activities to ensure safety of participants; instructs campers and staff in proper methods for operating tools; monitors and directs behavior at all times to ensure compliance with camp rules.
  • Assists counselors with the development of art kits for use by cabins.
  • Maintains accountability and inventory of all arts and craft tools, materials, and supplies; orders or purchases needed supplies and materials as approved.
  • Ensures the arts and crafts area and supplies are clean and free from debris at all times. Identifies potential hazards and responds appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Secures and locks all arts/crafts equipment and supplies after each session.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
  • Trains other camp staff to lead, chaperone and monitor arts and crafts activities.
  • Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
  • Sits with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed.
  • Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection.
  • Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Two years’ experience performing and coordinating arts and crafts projects preferred, or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available.
