Apply today!DESCRIPTION OF WORKChildren, Youth, and Families (CYF) Caseworkers provide protective and supportive services for abused/neglected children and families and, depending upon assignment, provide counseling services to children, families, foster parents and/or adoptive parents. The Caseworker also participates in Conferencing and Teaming to help families with their plan goals including safety and self-sufficiency, participates in crisis intervention where appropriate, and presents case facts and testimony in Children’s Court.New CYF Caseworkers work under the general supervision of a Casework Supervisor for a six-month probation period and complete a ten-week curriculum consisting of both classroom and field work. New Caseworkers are responsible for working with a family from the point the family is referred to DHS/CYF until they are no longer involved with the agencyWork Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Schedules vary and travel is required.
  • This position could be located in various CYF locations within Allegheny County.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
