The Commission on Offender Review performs a vital role in Florida’s criminal justice system by preserving the autonomy needed in post-release decisions affecting inmates and ex-offenders. The commission functions as a quasi-judicial, decision-making body. Commissioners preside over weekly meetings at the central office in Tallahassee and various other state locations as required by statute. During these public proceedings, the commissioners make a variety of determinations regarding parole and other releases.BENEFITS

POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Acting Supervisor in the absence of the Operations & Management Consultant II.
- Analyzes reports of parole, conditional, conditional medical, control and addiction recovery release violations submitted by the Florida Department of Correction’s staff and other states. Evaluates nature and extent of alleged violations, to determine if Commission action should be taken with respect to the issuance of a warrant or amended warrant.
- Processes revocation-hearing reports on parole, conditional, conditional medical, control and addiction recovery release cases.
- Submits technical information and prepares order to Commission by way of docket for Commission decision. Forwards Commission’s decision to appropriate persons, analyzes postponement of hearing reports for accuracy.
- Provides technical information on matters such as residence requirements, job availability, risk to society, and forwards for a vote any bond hearing conducted by the Commission Investigator.
- Analyzes out-of-state hit reports to determine if arrested subject is wanted by this agency. Forwards identifying information, warrants, inmate photo, and fingerprint classes to arresting agency. Presents case to Commission for a decision on returning the wanted person and then coordinates return. Coordinate’s extradition procedures and documents with both in-state and out-of-state law enforcement agencies; and processes documents destined for approval of the Governor.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the Florida Crime Information System and National Crime Information System, and responds to system inquiries, both in-state and out-of-state.
- Analyzes Warrant Dismissal requests sent to central office from all FCOR field staff. Calculates offender’s day for day service of sentence date by determining the length of supervision, researching, and applying credit, for date of arrest, any time served on the current violations and credit for prior violations and/or reinstatements.
- Maintains calendar of monthly dismissals and, at the appropriate time, processes release paperwork for the Florida Department of Corrections for offenders housed in county jails, processes release paperwork and teletypes to the appropriate FCOR field office, the supervising officer, the county jail or the Florida Department of Corrections all to facilitate the removal of the FCOR hold and the offender’s release from custody.
- Processing Tips Responds to tips provided by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Social Security Administration regarding possible whereabouts of persons wanted by the Commission for violations of supervision. This process includes communicating with law enforcement, in state and out of state, to coordinate the offender’s apprehension.
- Responds to written and verbal inquiries from inmates and members of the public with respect to individual revocation cases.
- Reviews Validations monthly after Communications has completed their review and ensures timely completion. Updates the CJIS Validations system after review.
- Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Four years equivalent work experience can substitute for the college education.
