For a more complete list of benefits, visit .Pay:$3,671.68 – $4,038.84 Monthly (commensurate with experience)Your Specific Responsibilities:Facilitates the development of unit management plans for the Florida state park system; Prepares unit management plan components and maps; Communicates verbally and/or in writing to ensure receipt of all materials required to prepare and process unit management plans; Gathers, organizes, analyzes, formats and edits information used in unit management plans; Evaluates each unit management plan for compliance with all applicable statutes, administrative rules, Department and/or Division policies, directives and plan guidelines.Coordinates the review of unit management plans by the Department; Provides quality control review and assists other staff in improving the planning product; Coordinates the research, compilation, organization, and analyses of information used to produce the land use component of state park unit management plans; Produces conceptual land use plans in graphic and text formats to guide the physical design and development of public use facilities in the state parks.Leads and participates in master planning and post construction evaluation efforts, conducts public workshops and planning focus group processes and facilitates staff and public planning and visioning exercises; Oversees the maintenance of state park carrying capacity information; conducts special studies to develop appropriate policies and guidelines for establishing carrying capacities for units of the park system.Coordinates, as needed, with staff of the Bureau of Design and Construction to assure smooth transition of projects from the planning to the design phase; represents the Office, Division and Department at meetings, workshops and conferences, as required; travel.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:

  • Principles of park planning and physical land development planning.
  • Research techniques.
  • Land use planning techniques.
  • Florida’s plant communities and their suitability for land use.

Ability to:

  • Conduct and coordinate various planning and research projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare reports and records.
  • Determine appropriate carrying capacities for park lands.
  • Analyze and consolidate information received from various sections of the division’s staff in order to produce conceptual land use plans.
  • Interpret various maps of park properties.
  • Collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and written materials.
  • Conduct fact-finding research.
  • Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.
  • Maintain a valid driver license.
  • Utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and graphic presentation.
  • Work with various computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, graphics programs, computer aided design and geographic information systems.
  • Travel.
