Description: Department NameCollege Of LawJob DescriptionThe Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU seeks a Law Librarian who enjoys working with students to join our Law Library team. Among other duties, this librarian will provide research support and reference services to the students and faculty of the College of Law. The librarian will also participate in the Law Library’s instructional services, with the expectation that the position will evolve into taking on a teaching role.   • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Frequent physical demands include stooping, bending, reaching, lifting up to 25 pounds; exposure to dust and other airborne materials; regularly required to access books and other physical items from high shelves.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate to perform essential functions; use standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor and mouse), printer, copier/scanner, telephone and associated computer/technology.

Close Date18-November- 2024Grant Funded PositionThis is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding.Full-Time/Part-TimeFull-TimeEssential DutiesThe successful candidate will have the following primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Meet one-on-one with law students to advise and instruct on legal research.
  • Provide research presentations and orientations to College of Law students.
  • Work on in-depth research projects for College of Law faculty and administration.
  • Provide reference services to assist library patrons (students, attorneys, and members of the public) in-person, via the telephone, and through electronic means; participate in rotating coverage of the Reference Desk.
  • Create and maintain online instructional materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department.
  • Physical presence at the workplace or the college is an essential function or requirement of this job.
