Description: Working in a public school setting to provide assistance and information to students and their families concerning substance abuse and addiction.QUALIFICATIONS:Certification/Education:

• Associates Degree in Mental Health or Substance Abuse Counseling
• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) preferred

Special Knowledge/ Skills/Experience

• Knowledge of evidence based curriculum designed for adolescents
• Understanding of evidence based substance abuse programing in secondary schools
• Ability to create multimedia presentations
• Public speaking
• Experience working with adolescents

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Conduct Psychoeducational classes for students and staff.
• Bring in guest speakers to address substance abuse related topics.
• Perform substance abuse screening and assessment on students.
• Coordinate service planning with families and other health care providers.
• Provide in-services to families and staff on substance abuse related topics.
• Other assigned duties as directed from school administration.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands:Must be able to adapt to a fluid work environment in a multicultural diverse setting.
The facilitator must also be prepared to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
