Description: West Virginia University, School of Art and Design is seeking applications for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor of Interior Architecture and program coordinator. The position is a full time, 9-month appointment, non-tenure track, but can achieve promotion. Starting date is January 9, 2025.Responsibilities:Teaching (80%)

  • Teach all levels of Interior Design courses as needed. Teaching assignment is normally four (3-credit hour) courses per semester.

Service (20%)

  • Coordinate Interior Architecture program with a focus on the scheduling of classes, course development, and curriculum updates.
  • Participate in School, College, and University committee assignments as needed. Engage in student recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Contribute to CIDA accreditation application as needed.

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to teach BIM (Revit), rendering (Lumion), and illustration programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial and residential building codes.
  • Written and oral communication skills consistent with and complementary to the expectations of a public research university.
  • All required qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal masters (e.g. MFA, MID, MArch) or doctorate in interior design or interior design-related discipline.
  • Professional design experience in a commercial field and experience in the application of digital technology to design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Experience in attracting and maintaining students in the discipline.
