Description: Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television is actively seeking applications for an Assistant Professor position within the Department of Recording Arts. This is a full-time tenure-track faculty role with a competitive compensation package, including salary and benefits. The position is anticipated to start in the Fall Semester, 2025.Loyola Marymount University (LMU) faculty are helping to create the world we want to live in. We are seeking the next generation of mission-driven teacher-scholars.Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in Recording Arts/Audio, Film Production, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three years professional experience in audio for music production/Film and TV.
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience at the college level in the relevant areas.
  • A robust professional background in music recording/production and proficiency in Pro Tools software and AVID hardware.
  • Candidates should be well-versed in sound for film and television as well as music production.
  • Hands-on experience with analog mixing consoles and analog recording equipment.
  • Preferred candidates should have experience with teaching basic acoustics and psychoacoustics, as well as administrative experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Teach both graduate and undergraduate classes, focusing on Recording Arts for music applications.
  • Ensure the effective application and realization of the Recording Arts course outcomes, and maintain a learning environment consistent with the University and School’s mission.
  • Advise students on both academic and professional career goals.
  • Participate in various service responsibilities spanning the department, college, and university levels.

Position Expectations:

  • The candidate will be expected to maintain currency in the field.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to continue their research/creative work.
  • The candidate should remain proficient in Pro Tools software and AVID hardware.
  • The candidate should be skilled in operating equipment in a music recording studio environment.
