Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (40 hours/week)Position Overview
Colorado Springs School District 11 is seeking a dedicated and passionate Visual Arts Teacher to inspire and guide students in the exploration of visual art techniques and creative expression. This full-time teaching position will focus on high school-level students, helping them to develop skills in a variety of artistic mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. The Visual Arts Teacher will create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and fosters students’ artistic growth. This role is ideal for a professional committed to delivering high-quality arts education and who enjoys working with diverse learners to unlock their potential through visual arts.
Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a dynamic and comprehensive visual arts curriculum that aligns with state standards and meets the needs of students at different skill levels.
• Teach a range of art techniques, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, etc.
• Provide individualized instruction and mentoring to students, fostering their creative development and helping them to refine their artistic abilities.
• Organize and oversee student art shows, exhibitions, and competitions, promoting student achievements and artistic expression.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and administrators to integrate visual arts with other subject areas and school initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that supports all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff about student progress, assignments, and upcoming events.
• Participate in professional development and stay current with trends in visual arts education.

Qualifications

• License: Valid Colorado Teaching License
• Experience: Previous experience teaching visual arts at the high school level is preferred.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of a variety of artistic techniques, media, and tools. Ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment, with experience in differentiating instruction for students with varying levels of ability.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field required
